Hi

i just subscribed to PTCL Broadband 4 days ago, i was using wateen wimax before but it was giving me many problems and dis-connections.

I have been using PTCL DSL - 1 MB package for the past 2 days and its amazing i can see alot of difference in PTCL compared to Wateen.

however, the first 2 days were horrible because maybe (i assume) that it was because of my connection being new, my PTCL telephone which i just got added with the PTCL DSL service as going hay-wire i wasn't able to use the internet or the telephony service for the first 2 days.

After calling the complain center @ 1218 for about 5 times my problem got resolved.

But atleast the problem resolved in a maximum of 24-30 hours.

Now, i have been trying to ping the DNS servers but only the Primary DNS server is responding the Alternate DNS server is not responding at all

I was wondering if i am doing something wrong? can someone please help and provide me with a good setting to use with PTCL Broadband.

The Router device that i got from PTCL is ZXDSL 831II model.

I am not sure which DNS to use, almost all of the DNS they have go down sometimes.

I think you can just try to use the Automatic DNS assigning setting, its what my brother is using on his Ptcl dsl connection.

You can try the following PTCL DNS Servers:

DNS 1
Primary DNS - 202.125.135.12
Alternate DNS - 203.99.163.243

DNS 2
Primary DNS - 203.135.0.70
Alternate DNS - 203.135.2.117

these dns settings are working perfectly fine

Google has launched their own DNS a while ago, thought i post that here too :-)

DNS 1 - 8.8.8.8
DNS 2 - 8.8.4.4

People who are having DNS issues or websites being blocked by their ISP can use Google's which will allow them to surf the web more easily.

I think i'll be posting more of these later :-)

i have zxdslcii router mera dsl bar bar disconnect ho jata hay stable nai rehta mjhy koi setting btao takey ye stable rahy...kabhey kabhey 3,4 horus bhe chal jata hay kabhe kabhe bar bar unstable hota rehta ha....

You can use Google Public DNS, i am using that.
The google DNS are very stable atleast than most

• 8.8.8.8
• 8.8.4.4

or you can also try using OpenDNS:

• 208.67.222.22
• 208.67.220.220

Just so you know, i prefer Google's DNS over others and its been working great.
